In project management, stakeholders are Organizations who have collaborated on your project and, in some way, have helped you achieve it. Project stakeholders can be the
organizations which do the work, those who approve it, or even those for whom you are doing
the work, but they are all important.
There are six stakeholder profiles:
Beneficiary
Financier
Auditor
Proponent / Executor
Cooperator
Opponent
Stakeholders are a key piece when planning and managing a project. For this reason,
organizations have to identify the position of each of them, since their impact is
noticeable during the life cycle of the project.
In the first phase, the stakeholders are identified and analyzed to find out their needs
and provide them with solutions, in addition, the limits of the project and the strategies
for detecting future risks are established.
The stakeholder matrix defines the interest groups for the project. All must be analyzed
to understand the degree of influence, how to manage them and how to take them into
account in the phases where each one will become important. Likewise, the
communication strategies that will be used with them will be known.
As the project progresses, the number of people involved increases and management
and communication are critical factors for the success of the project. Poor management
and relationship can weaken and block the progress of the project and the position of
the professional who directs it.
Today, stakeholder management is essential in project management. A good
management of these elements allows making the right decisions at key moments, in
addition, it facilitates the achievement of the ultimate goal of the project.
Doing a good analysis involves the right Organizations in the right way, because as the project progresses the number of people involved increases and the management,
communication and relationship with the different groups that have influence can be a
critical factor in the success of the project. Project for support and endorsement, on the
contrary, poor management, communication and relationship can weaken and even
block the project and the position of the entity who directs it.
Analyzing to find out who is who, what degree of power and interest they have and
understanding them, is extremely important to create links and relationships within the
project. When these links and relationships with those involved are transparent, sharing
the problems that may arise is the best way to solve and mitigate them.
